The traditional learning experience for students is bored and brings poor study behaviour.
With the help of information and communication technology (ICT), there are plenty of
learning platforms either web-based or application widely available nowadays. One of
them is the learning management system (LMS) that is commonly provided by
institutions. However, it does not really boost up the students’ interest to learn
something new on their own. The students learning experience can be interesting with
the help of emotional design elements together with appropriate persuasive strategies.
Therefore, this project proposes to develop a LMS with persuasive strategies and
emotional design elements to enhance the students’ learning experience in course
IT32103, Human-Computer Interaction for University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students.
By doing this, three objectives are focused: the persuasive design strategies and
emotional design elements for LMS, to develop a persuasive LMS and the evaluation of
the persuasive LMS. There are four phases in methodology. First is the pilot study to
investigate the students' emotions based on the LMS interfaces and their learning
experience by using LMS. Second, to identify the suitable persuasive LMS features. Third,
to develop the system by using programming language, Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP)
and the last, system evaluation. At the end of the project, a persuasive LMS is
implemented which can enhance the students’ learning experience. |
