BNM began standardising its MPC statement format in 2010. There are five paragraphs in total:
(i) the OPR decision;
(ii) the current global economic conditions and future outlooks;
(iii) the current domestic economic conditions and future outlooks;
(iv) current inflation and the committee's view on its future path; and
(v) the stance of monetary policy
In the following video, I compare the MPC statements issued in November 2021 and January 2022. I demonstrate the main differences between the statements and explain our central bank's main concerns. |
