Abstract:
Self-sufficient economic activities are the reflections and manifestations of the structure and behaviour of rural communities that are still entangled and stucked within old and traditional methods. Even though they are living amidst an era where modernity and sophisticated tools are available cheaply and easily, they seemed to be not in-synced with their livelihood. They just don’t fit in the scenario illustrated by Rostow (1960) regarding the stages of development except for their traditional attributes. This demand valid and reasonable justification of why such ‘duality’ existed under the same umbrella of development programs and policies.
