Abstract:
This research paper investigates the management approaches employed by government and privately-owned small islands, focusing on a comparative analysis of their strategies and outcomes. The study defines comparison as the systematic examination of similarities and differences between entities, providing a framework for understanding their relationships. Comparative analysis, as the chosen methodology, enables a detailed assessment of the governance, sustainability practices, and operational models of government versus privately-managed islands. By uncovering parallels and distinctions, the research aims to identify best practices and potential areas for improvement in island management. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of different management structures, offering valuable insights for policymakers, private stakeholders, and researchers in the fields of tourism, sustainability, and governance.
