dc.description.abstract The gender wage gap is the discrepancy in average earnings between men and women for the same or similar work, focuses by key causes such as occupational segregation, unequal caregiving responsibilities, and discrimination in pay and promotions. Women are usually focused in lower-paying sectors, and societal norms place a unequal caregiving burden on them, resulting in career interruptions that further broaden the gap. Additionally, discriminatory practices in pay and promotions contribute to women earning less than their male counterparts, even when performing similar work. en_US
