Abstract:
Situation of uncertainty & unpreparedness, fear of contracted the virus, restricted movement, delay of students’ clinical placement more than 6 months. However the Pandemic shows no reduction. These were among the dilemma faced by our department and the Faculty as well on the issues of students clinical placement .COVID-19 has already disrupted not only universities and the academic institutions, the health care system, economy, education, culture and everything that was normal to us before, is now. What will be the best alternatives to replace the clinical teaching during this long total lockdown. The clinical placement is a platform where students demonstrate not only knowledge, and skills but most importantly the attitude, professional behavior, and communication skills that facilitate them into this unique profession. However during Pandemic, students' were in shift duty to perform skills which we called Semi Simulated Laboratory. Will the Clinical Skills Lab (CSL) experience be sufficient to determine students’ competence . ?. This note describes how the Nursing Department FMHS UMS has developed a model teaching learning environment in the clinical area to enable nursing students to perform the clinical training during this Pandemic season.
