As lecturers primarily teaching Year 1 and Year 2 medical students, we encounter the
challenge of engaging a diverse group of students from various backgrounds. These young students often face mental and physical stress, being away from their families and loved ones, coupled with the demanding nature of medical education. Our goal is to capture their attention, help them adapt to this environment, and foster their skills while promoting mutual respect among peers and lecturers. Objectives are to build a positive and engaging learning environment among medical students, to establish consistent communication with flexibility and understanding, while exercising sound judgement and to focus on the well-being, mental & physical development, and maturity of the students. We implemented with following activities: student-teacher collaboration, mentorship program, well-being initiatives, flexibility in learning, interactive learning platform, gamified learning challenges, peer-led learning, feedback mechanism and celebrating achievement. |
