Pain management in terminal illness is a complex and multifaceted challenge that necessitates a comprehensive approach integrating physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions.
Palliative care has emerged as a critical component in addressing these needs, significantly improving the quality of life for patients facing life-threatening conditions.
Research indicates that early involvement of palliative care teams can enhance symptom management, facilitate appropriate discharge planning, and reduce hospital stays for terminally ill patients, with studies showing that up to 90% of cancer-related pain can be effectively managed with appropriate interventions (Chung Et Al., 2016; Radfar, 2022). |
