Abstract:
Early detection of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is essential for initiating timely interventions that can significantly improve developmental outcomes. The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers is a validated screening tool recommended for use in clinical settings to assess ASD risk in children aged 16 to 30 months. This resource introduces an Excel-based M-CHAT Calculator designed to support primary care providers in accurately scoring and interpreting M-CHAT results during developmental surveillance. The tool automatically categorizes responses into low or high risk for ASD and provides clear guidance on follow-up steps, aligning with M-CHAT-R/F protocols. Its user-friendly design enhances workflow efficiency in busy clinical environments, reduces scoring errors, and facilitates standardized screening practices, especially in settings where electronic medical record (EMR) integration is not available. This resource aims to strengthen early ASD identification efforts in primary care and maternal and child health clinics.
