Abstract:
Malaysia's labour laws are primarily governed by the Employment Act 1955 and the Industrial Relations Act 1967, which establish the legal framework for employment relationships. The Employment Act outlines minimum terms and conditions, including working hours, wages, leave entitlements, and termination processes. It mandates protections against unfair dismissal and ensures statutory benefits for employees. The Industrial Relations Act facilitates dispute resolution between employers and employees, promoting harmonious industrial relations. Despite these frameworks, challenges persist, particularly regarding the treatment of migrant workers and compliance with international labour standards, highlighting ongoing issues within Malaysia's labour market.
